• The EuroJackpot was first proposed in 2006. The reason proposed was to have another European lottery to compete with the only other favourite lottery in Europe called the EuroMillions. It was officially launched in 2011.
• The first draw took place on 23 March 2012. Spain joined in June 2012, when the EuroJackpot lottery ticket concession was granted to the National Organization of Spanish blind people (ONCE).
• Croatia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, and Sweden became part in February 2013.
• In January 2013, the lottery had a ‘rolldown’ cap in effect. The rolldown cap meant that if the jackpot was not won in 12 consecutive draws, the entire prize would roll down in the 13th draw and be paid out to the winner(s) in the next highest prize tier.
